Lagos Fatal Crash: Corps Marshal Calls on Motorists to Make Routine and Regular Vehicle Maintenance a Priority.

The Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps, Dauda Ali Biu has called on fleet and other commercial vehicle operators, as well as private vehicle owners to make routine and regular vehicle maintenance a major priority. This is to eradicate all incidences of mishap resulting from mechanical deficiencies in vehicles.

The caution came following a fatal crash that occured at World Oil Opic, on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, in Lagos State on Sunday 23 April, 2023 at 1045HRS.

The lone crash involved a White Mazda Bus with registration numbers BDG993YG.

A total of 22 people were involved, comprising of 7 Male adults, 8 Female Adults, 4 Male children, and 3 Female children. Out of this number, 14 people got injured (4 Male adults,5 Female adults, 2 Male children,and 3 Female children).

In all, a total of 7 people were killed comprising of 2 Male adults, 3 Female adults, and 2 Male children.

The main cause of the crash have been identified to be break failure, which resulted to loss of control.

Men of the Nigeria Police Force and the FRSC rescue team collaborated in the operation as injured persons were rescued to Lagos State Accident and Emergency Centre, Old toll gate, while the dead bodies were deposited at Ogun State University Teaching Hospital (OSUTH) mortuary in Sagamu, Ogun State.
