Police in Ebonyi State Arrests 4 Persons for Alleged Murder of PDP Ward Chairman

A Labour Party aspirant for Ebonyi State House of Assembly election, in addition to three others, have been arrested for the alleged murder of Mr Peter Nweke, the PDP ward Chairman of Ezza North Council Area of Ebonyi State, killed on 18th March, during the Governorship and State House of Assembly elections, in Ebonyi State.

The Police public Relations Officer, SP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, in a statement, revealed that the first suspect, one Leonard Kelechi Nwali, a Labour Party House of Assembly aspirant, for Ezza North Constituency, confessed to hiring the assailants who were meant to torture the late Peter Nweke, however, he died in the process. According to him, the late Peter Nweke posed a threat to his political ambition, so he contacted one Akwasi Of Nnachi Umuezeoka, Ezza North Local government Area, who spear-headed the touture that eventually resulted to the death of Mr. Peter Nweke.

The statement by the PPRO, also adds that other suspects have admitted taking part in the murder of the PDP Ward Chairman.

While assuring members of the public that all the suspects arrested would be arraigned in court at the end of investigations, reiterated the command’s continuous commitment to safeguarding lives and properties of the good people of Ebonyi State.
