APM Closes Case before PEPC

The Allied Peoples Movement alleging multiple nomination of Vice President Kashim Shetimma as the running mate of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the February 25, 2023 Presidential election has closed its case before the Presidential Election Petition Court sitting in Abuja.
The petitioner called only one witness, Aisha Abubakar who deposed to five statements on oath in support of the petition.
The petitioner equally tendered seven batches of documents obtained from the Independent National Electoral Commission in aid of its petition.
The court admitted in evidence all the documents tendered by the petitioner.
During cross examination ,counsel to the APC as the second respondent in the matter Lateef Fagbemi, SAN tendered the Supreme Court verdict delivered on 26th may, 2023 on the alleged multiple nomination of Vice President Kashim Shetimma.
Aisha Abubakar told the court that she was aware of the verdict of the Apex court.
Counsel to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shetimma, Wole Olanipekun, SAN made the witness to read some paragraphs in the Supreme Court verdict in the open court.
All the respondents in the matter, INEC, APC, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shetimma and Kabiru Masari also closed their case without calling any witness.
The Presidential Election Petition Court led by Justice Haruna Simon Tsamani adjourned the matter to 14th July, 2023 for adoption of final written addresses by parties.
The Presidential Election Petition Court is currently hearing the petition filed by Atiku Abubakar and the People’s Democratic Party.
So far, the petitioners have called 25 witnesses as well as tendering various documents.
