NIMC Extends Deadline For The Mandatory Usage Of National Identity Card

The initial date fixed by the Commission is the 1st of September this year, the extension according to National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) followed the recent presidential directive for all Ministries, Departments and Agencies to expeditiously harmonize their bio-metric databases.
Director General of the Commission Chris Onyemenam,says the decision will enable its progress with harmonization with the Central Bank of Nigeria, Federal Road Safety Commission,Federal Inland Revenue Service, PENCOM, INEC, National Health Insurance Scheme,and the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The Director added that he is happy because Nigerians have began to appreciate the distinction between the process that they are currently been exposed to and what the commission would end up with.The commission expresses satisfaction with on going distributions of the National Identity Card.To meet up with the deadline,National Identity Management Commission has created more 300 additional enrollment and collection centres adding up to the already existing 404 centres across the country.
