The Defence Headquarters has clarified the issue of tis troops embanking on a thorough search of vehicles converging newspapers and prints across Nigeria. In a statement signed by the Director, Defence Information, Major Gen. Chris Olukolade said the exercise indicating movement of materials with grave security implications across the country using the channel of news print related consignments. Major Gen. Olukolade also stated that it has nothing to do with the content of the media organizations involved. The military the statement noted, appreciated the role of the media as an indispensable partner in the ongoing counter insurgency operation and would not deliberately infringe on the freedom of the press.
