Court Orders Swearing in of Rivers PDF EXCO

By Femi Johnson

On the 17th of March 2013, the Democratic Party conducted an election into it’s State Executive Committee. Felix Obouh won that election, but for over a year, Godspower Akeh was said to have been parading himself as the State Chairman or so at least the Court was told in an affidavit that was sworn to at the FCT High Court.

Delivering judgment on an application for him to be recognized and sworn in, Justice Ishaq Bello said there was nothing before him to show that all the processes leading to the election which was conducted by Chief Dan Orbih were not approved both by the National Headquarters of the PDP and INEC.

He said the refusal to swear the Exco in was a contravention of the PDP constitution and electoral act. To be able to deliver this judgement, Justice Ishaq Bello had to assume jurisdiction dismissing a preliminary objection on the jurisdiction of the FCT High Court to hear the matter.
