Tafida on Overseas Education

Students who are selected from various schools in Bayelsa State embarked on a study to the UK to explore areas related to globalisation, unity, culture and life in the diaspora. The students accompanied by their head teachers, proprietress, school doctor and liaison officer were in the Nigerian High Commission to learn about diplomatic activities and study overseas, the pros and cons.

Nigerian High Commissioner UK, Dalhatu Sarki Tafida told them some of the activities of the mission which include the issuance of passports, visas, consular and welfare of Nigerians, trade and investment which is the current policy thrust of the present administration while advising them to take advantage of the orderliness and effectiveness of the British system in the course of their study tour. In an interactive session with the students, their leaders and some officials of the mission raised concerns on sending Nigerians to study abroad and advised on a monitoring mechanism that will ensure enhanced performance while craving for the improvement of the standard of education in Nigeria so that only courses that are not available in the country should be given overseas opportunities.
