Police arraign man for allegedly issuing dud cheque

The Police in Ibadan on Thursday, arraigned a 36-year-old man, Adeleke Oluwafemi, for allegedly issuing N2 million dud cheque.
Oluwafemi, whose address was not provided, is facing a charge of issuing dud cheque in an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court to which he pledged not guilty.
According to the prosecutor, Sgt. Opeyemi Olagunju, the defendant committed the offence on Jan. 18 at Iyaganku court premises.
Olagunju said the defendant issued post dated Diamond Bank cheque to the complainant, Mr Ayodele Olabode.
“The cheque was dishonoured on presentation at the bank for lack of funds, ” he said.
Olagunju said the offence contravened Section 419 B (B) of the Criminal Code of Oyo State, 2000.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr O.Adisa granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum
Adisa said one of the sureties should show evidence of tax payment, while the other should be a level eight officer in the civil service.
The case was adjourned until March 3, for trial. (NAN)
