World Hijab Day: Kebbi State Marks 2018 World Hijab Day in Gwandu
The Significance of Hijab to the nobility of women has once again been emphasised at this years World Hijab Day in Gwandu, Kebbi State.
Speaking today at the occasion, Wife of the Kebbi State Governor Dr Zainab Abubakar Atiku Bagudu called on women of all faiths to imbibe a dress code that dignifies womanhood.
Represented by the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajiya Tsahara Bawa, the Governor’s wife charged the gathering to propagate the message of Hijab which goes beyond ordinary mode of dressing to an international identity and symbol of honour for women.
Women groups from the 21 LGAs attended the event which featured distribution of hijabs, clothing materials, food, medicines and breast cancer screening kits to 500 women in the area. 200 young ladies also got free Genotype tests by Kebbi Sickle Cell Association KESCA.
Other highlights of the event was a cancer awareness talk by a representative of Medicaid Cancer Foundation, Rukayya Manga while female scholars preached on the significance of ethical issues embedded in the hijab identity.
Drama sketches on the importance of Hijab was performed by students of Ajiya Sani Government Day Secondary School and Federal Government Girls College Gwandu. Pupils from Gwandu Township Primary school gave cancer awareness tips to the delight of the audience.
