Nigeria Air Force `Wings’ Two Flying Officers

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on Tuesday winged two of its officers who had completed a one-year flying training course at Laughlin Air Force Delrio, Texas, United States of America (USA).

The Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, while decorating the officers, said he was delighted once more to decorate yet another set of officers.

Abubakar said it was the desire of the service to train and retrain its officers to enable them to acquire the right skill to carry out any assignments given to them.

“Training and retraining of personnel is the only way you get the desired results from officers at any given time.

“But without training, officers will not be able to have the requisite qualifications and technical know-how to meet the changing demands of what the military stands for, ” he Said.

The CAS expressed delight that training and retraining of personnel which was one of the cardinal points of his vision, had started yielding the desired results.

“We have trained up to 32 pilots already, 14 are undergoing training in South Africa, some in Kaduna and Kano respectively.

“In no distant time, we shall be having additional 14 pilots in the service, ” he said.

Abubakar said that very shortly, another set of 450 officers would be embarking on training courses in various fields across the world.

According to him, all efforts were geared toward preparing NAF personnel to enable them to carry out their professional responsibilities of protecting the territorial integrity of the country.

He said NAF was also training its personnel on Information and Communication Technology (ICT), saying that six of the personnel had just arrived the country having completed their training.

Abubakar urged them to settle down as quickly as possible to carry out the enormous task ahead of them.
