Cyber Security and Regulations Are NITDA’s Top Priority – DG Dr. Pantami

NITDA, Abuja: With the incessant cyber crime activities upsurge within the country, Regulations and Cyber security is among NITDA’s top priority and as part of NITDA’s Mandate, there is need to create awareness among the general public on the various traits caused by cyber crime activities which affects the country’s output at the end of the day, Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim, Director General of National Information Technology Development Agency has said.

The DG made this assertion while receiving the delegation from Verint Systems who paid a courtesy visit to the Agency’s Headquarters in Abuja to seek collaboration with the agency towards curbing the menace of cyber crimes in Nigeria.

Pantami who expressed delight by the visit, said he is impressed with the Cyber Security Intelligence Solutions provided by the company which he believes will create avenue for curbing cyber crime activities affecting the country.

The DG said that, “the visit by Verint System is timely, and promised to review the document presented on Cyber Security Intelligence Solutions with enthusiasm to have a win – win relationship that will aid in curbing cyber crime activities in the country.”

Dr. Pantami added “adding that implementing such security measures will help to improve the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) paving way for the growth and development of Information Technology (IT) in the country.”

Earlier, Mr Avi Dadush (Horizon) leader of the delegation briefed NITDA management on the Cyber Security Intelligence Solutions.

He further explained that the solutions to be rendered by the company are in areas of Security Analyst, Domestication of Data and Capacity building to aid more creation of awareness about cyber crime traits and diverse ways of curbing such traits.

Mr Enemarie Alexander (Horizon) on his part added that, these solutions when fully deployed, will aid in tapping into organisations with interest in cyber security, capturing all traffics, store configuration, identifying traits and create avenue for multi tenant system that will curb the menace of cyber crime activities.

Alexander said that NITDA will regulate the cyber security for other Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDAs) and advise the Agency to create a small unit that allows for monitoring.
