Senate Resumes Plenary, Pass Vote Of Confidence On Its Leadership

The Senate resumes plenary passing vote of confidence on its leadership under Senate President Abubakar Bukola Saraki.

After 6 weeks of recess it was a time for exchange of pleasantries, and exchange banters as the senators are back for full legislative duties

Welcoming the senators, Senate president Abubakar Saraki announced their resolve to collaborate with the executive to proved policy direction for the economy. He asked them to avoid political interest on issues especially when the names of ministers come for screening.

“We must think hard and work hard with the executive to achieve greater clarity in policy direction intervention. We shall commence immediately a review of the performance of 2015 budget and begin now to lay fundamental principle that will determine the 2016 budget and
our economy at a time like this”, senate president, Abubakar Bukola Saraki said

 

 

The senators after passed a vote of confidence on his leadership as sponsored by David Umoru, representing 83 senators whom he said endorsed the motion
There were however protest from Senators Omoworare from Osun state and Kabiru Marafa from Zamfara state.

Meanwhile some groups under the coalition of civil society and media executives for political stability
and Ohaneze Ndigbo Youth movement

National Assembly correspondent however reports of a mild drama following a point of order raised by one of the Senators against the motion.
