Education Minister Urges Nigerian Academics To Access 7.8 Billion Naira Unaccessed Fund For Research

Education Minister, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau has urged Nigerian academics to expedite efforts at accessing the seven point eight billion naira unaccessed fund for research in Nigerian tertiary institutions.
He stated this at the launch of the TETFUND sponsored specialized higher education textbooks worth four hundred and seventy one million naira.

Over the years the challenges of inadequate funding rather than the research-able work  was a major issue in the tertiary education sub-sector but today the story has changed as academics and education managers find it difficult to access education funds due to their inability to meet the TETFUND guidelines.

However, 20 research titles from Nigeria universities qualified for award, 17 of them from sciences, technology and innovation, two titles from humanities and  social sciences while one from cross cotton thematic area.The event also featured the presentation of TETFUND guidelines on national research fund and guidelines on institution based research.
