Northern Elders' Forum Appeals on Boko Haram
By Edino Justice
Northern Elders’ Forum has appealed to both the Federal Government and the insurgent group otherwise called Boko Haram to remain open to new ideas on how to achieve genuine peace in the country. This is contained in a communiqué read by Professor Ango Abdullahi while briefing the Newsmen in Abuja. The special meeting which lasted hours to discuss the latest position of the Federal Government’s plans to grant amnesty to the insurgents, was held behind closed doors.
Professor Ango said the Forum was able to arrive at some suggestions and recommendations which would be presented to government for consideration. He therefore appealed to both parties to remain flexible to suggestions from people of goodwill. The special meeting included retired Senior Judicial, Security Officers and Technocrats.
