Education Minister Meets VC's of New Universities

With two billion Naira earmarked for projects in each of the nine new Federal Universities, the Minister of Education Prof. Ruqayyatu Rufai says the construction of Hostel Accommodation will soon commence in the Institutions. She stated this during a meeting with the Vice Chancellors and Contractors handling the projects. The meeting was designed to review the status report on project implementation to enable the contractors meet up with the deadline.

In another development, the National Universities Commission has presented a report on Labour Market Observatory Project pilot study on the manufacturing sector of the Nigerian economy. Executive Secretary, NUC, Prof. Julius Okojie says the Commission’s responsibility is to ensure the orderly development of the Nigerian University System to produce globally competitive and relevant graduates who will meet Nigeria’s national manpower needs. The project is supported by the World Bank through the STEP-B project.
