First Lady Meets Polish First Lady

While President Goodluck Jonathan was holding bi-lateral talks with the visiting Polish Prime Minister, First Lady Dame Patience Jonathan met with the wife of the Prime Minister, Malgorzata Tusk. Dame Patience Jonathan held discussion with Mrs. Tusk on several issues relating to the role of non-governmental initiatives in enhancing the well being of citizens. The First Lady told her guest that her Non-Governmental Organisation, the women for change and development initiative and A. Aruera Reachout Foundation have focused on empowering women, youth and children.

Dame Patience Jonathan also said that through he mobilization of women and constructive engagement with stakeholders, more women have been given political offices especially at the Federal level where President Jonathan appointed 13 female Ministers, the first in Nigeria’s history. Mrs. Malgorzata Tusk congratulated Dame Patience Jonathan on her initiatives, especially her Leadership of the African First Ladies peace mission which she says is positioned to promote peace in Africa. State House Correspondent, Makut Simon Macham reports that she promised to collaborate with Dame Patience Jonathan in the interest of the citizens of Nigeria and Poland.
