NCPC on Checking Corruption

Religious bodies in the country have been challenged to use their platforms to re-orientate Nigerians to go back to the old values of non-materialism as a means of checking corruption in Nigeria. Chairman of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission NCPC, Most Reverend Nicolas Okoh gave the charge at a conference organized by NCPC in Abuja.

The meeting which is the first conference for this year brought together State Chairmen and Secretaries of State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Boards and the Commissioners of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission in Abuja to assess the progress made so far and to plan ahead. In his address, Chairman NCPC Most Reverend Nicolas Okoh enjoined Christians to inspire people by matching spirituality with morality. The Executive Secretary of the Commission, John Kennedy Okpara, said within the Commission’s few years of existence, it has achieved a lot in the area of increased number of Pilgrims, zero absconment and constant enlightenment and sensitization campaigns.

Four states that distinguished themselves were honoured, they are: Lagos for steady increase in self sponsored pilgrims, Rivers, highest number of pilgrims, Borno for being resilient and Benue State, the most organized in logistics and time management.
