Education Minister, Prof. Ruqayyatu Rufai has urged Universities Governing Councils to explore other sources of revenue other than Government allocations for the smoothrunning of the Institutions. This was at the inauguration of governing councils of twenty one Federal Universities in Abuja.

Over the years, the university system has been facing numerous challenges. Council members are expected to adopt best practices and monitor institutional projects to improve facilities and infrastructure for teaching and learning.

Chief Don Etiebet promised that the councils would address the issues of streamlining educational programmes in the various universities. The Councils have four year tenures from the date of inauguration.
