The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed the gruesome murder of a traditional ruler,the Onikoro,of Koro community in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State,Oba Aremu Olusegun Cole.
In a statement signed by the Kwara State Police Public Relations Officer,DSP, Ejire Adeyemi Toun,the traditional ruler was killed in his palace and his wife was abducted with one other by gunmen on Thursday night.
While assuring the public that no stone will be left unturned in ensuring that the perpetrators are brought to justice as soon as possible,the police public relations officer said the Kwara State commissioner of police has set up investigating team to clamp down on the perpetrators of the heinous crime.
Security measures have also been intensified in Koro community while tactical teams are being mobilised to beef up security to ensure the safety and well being of residents of Koro community.
Meanwhile,Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq has condemned the killing of Olukoro of Koro describing it as shocking,reckless and abominable.
While condoling with the people of Koro,The governor charged security agencies not to spare any resources to track down the perpetrators ,free the spouse and one other that were taken away.
