Three-Storey Building Collapses in Lagos

While the Lagos state Government is increasing monitoring & surveillance toward curbing incessant building collapse in the state, another three- floor building under construction at plot 5996, Ladipo Oluwole street, Apapa has partially collapsed

The structure was said to have caved in due to distress compounded by thunder strike from the early morning rainfall in most parts of lagos Metropolis
An official of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC), in Ajeromi Ifelodun LCDA, Asimiyu Tiamiyu, who was among the early callers at the scene said no casualty was recorded.
He explained further that most of the workers at the site had left for the Sallah break, a vital reason why no one was caught in the web of the unfortunate incident.

Meanwhile the lagos state building control agency says immediately the incident was flagged on its platform, a preliminary report showed that the building owner only obtained provisional development permit for two floors as against the three floors been constructed while the developers ignored the stop work and seal up orders of the Lagos State Building Control Agency, LASBCA and Continued construction secretly.

The agency has however ordered the sealing off of the structure pending inquires into the collapse to unravel the minute details and guide appropriate actions.
