Celebration of the 2023 International Women’s Day

Great Nigerian Women, it is another International Women’s Day; a day set aside by the global community to celebrate Women around the world.

As we jointly celebrate our journey of successes and pains; I want to thank all Nigerian women from all walks of life for standing tall in the face of opposition and the recently experienced economic challenges; together in unity, we shall overcome.

As African Women look to us for leadership, we must continue to defy the odds to provide that leadership.

In this regard, I call on Nigerian Women to come out enmasse in the true sense of embracing equity on 11th March to support our female candidates at the Polls. Despite the poor performance of our women in the just concluded Presidential and National Assembly elections, we still have the opportunity to address this and even producing the first female Governor under the APC in Adamawa State.

Truly women can’t be silent when we can see our children and the vulnerable are struggling daily to get by. Women are saddled with the burden of putting food on the table, ensure that their children are protected and sent to school, the rights of the vulnerable are defended and cared for. Please remain strong and resilient!! The struggle continues, until we change the mind set.

Once again, keep hope alive and Happy Women’s Day.

Signed

Dame Pauline K. Tallen, OFR, KSG Honourable Minister of Women Affairs
