Logistics and insecurity responsible for voting delay – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission says logistics as well as challenges associated with insecurity in some parts of the county responsible for the delay in the commencement of voting in some polling units

The National Chairman of INEC Professor Mahmood Yakubu says voting has not commenced in 3 local government areas of Imo state due to security issues.

He says talks are ongoing with security Agencies to ensure the people in the local governments are not defrenchised

The INEC Boss also confirmed insecurity issues in Shiroro local government area of Niger State.

In Safana local government area of Katsina State Prof Yakubu says thugs disrupted voting arrangements and snatched 6 BVAS but 3 were recovered by the security Agencies.

A similar incident he says was recorded in Delta State.
