Adamawa High Court Vacates Order Restraining INEC From Conducting Supplementary Governorship Election

The Adamawa state High Court sitting in Yola on Tuesday vacated it’s earlier order restraining the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from conducting the Governorship Supplementary election in Adamawa.

The court has also ruled that it has the jurisdiction to adjudicate on the case filed before it by the political party Movement for the Restoration and Defence of Democracy MRDD against the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC.

The court said that the ruling on the principal suit on alleged exclusion of the party in governorship ballot paper for 9 March Governorship election comes up on Friday 29 March.

INEC, while responding to the ruling, said that it will proceed with the conduct of the supplementary election on a date to be announced. This was disclosed by Festus Okoye, National Commissioner Information for the commission.
