Bauchi Speaker lauds Women Over Impressive Turnout
The Speaker, Bauchi State House of Assembly, Alhaji Kawu Damina, has lauded the turnout of women in the Governorship and Sate Assembly elections in various polling units within Darazo Local Government Area of Bauchi.
Damina made the commendation in an interview with newsmen in Darazo on Saturday after casting his vote at his Ajere polling unit.
He said that women converged at the polling units before 8am to cast their votes, adding that the turnout was a clear demonstration of the dedication of the womenfolk to nation-building and sustenance of democracy in the country.
“Women have answered the call of their leaders and they are key in the electioneering process of the country,” he said.
Damina commended security agencies and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for timely commencement of voting, adding that peace and orderliness were maintained in all polling units in the area.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that women were seen in various polling units in large number, queuing to exercise their franchise. (NAN)
