INEC Trains 310 Univ. Professors as Collation Officers in Kaduna

The Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday said it had begun the training of 310 University Professors and Senior Lecturers, who would serve as election result collators during the Saturday polls in Kaduna State.

Alhaji Kaugama Abdullahi, who disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kaduna, said the three-day training was taking place at the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria, Kaduna State.

He said the  lecturers would be in charge of collation of results across the state in the Feb. 16 Presidential and National Assembly elections, as well as the March 2, Governorship and State Assembly polls in the state.

Meanwhile, the Commission said it was also concluding the training of 510 Supervisory Presiding Officers, who would be deployed to supervise the polls in all 255 wards across the 23 local government areas in the state.

According the Commissioner, the supervisors would also re-train the Ad-hoc staff  that would be posted to all 5102 Polling Units and 8012 Voting Points in the state.

NAN reports that over 35,000 Ad-Hoc staff, mostly serving and ex-corp members, had been trained to execute the polls in the state. (NAN)
