Chairman of Gulani Local Government Council in Yobe, Alhaji Babayo Hassan,  says the activities of a suspected ‘ghost writer’ is causing his people ‘sleepless nights’.

Hassan told newsmen in Damaturu on Friday that the writer, using the name ‘Ahmed Bulama Gulani’, had been publishing libelous articles in the social media, maligning public officers and politicians in the state.

According to him, his council, elders and traditional rulers are deeply worried by the activities of the writer bearing the name ‘Gulani’.

“We have combed the entire Gulani district but no one is bearing the name ‘Ahmed Bulama  Gulani’; we have reported same to the security agencies to unveil the real identity of the person hiding under the name ‘Gulani’ writing libelous articles.

“We would do everything at our disposal to unveil the true identity of this coward using fictitious name to create a bad image for  Gulani and its people,” he vowed.

The chairman assured that the community would always identify with the programmes, policies and political direction of the state government.

Alhaji Habu Dauda, chairman Gulani Elders Forum, said the fake ‘Gulani’ was probably on a deliberate mission to give Gulani District and its people, a bad name.

Habu, a former commissioner, said “the people of Gulani are brave and bold” adding that they would not hide under any guise to maliciously condemn anyone.

“We therefore disassociate ourselves in totality with every submission made by this coward hiding under a non-existing name, to malign our good people and community”  he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) gathered that the ‘Ahmed Bulama Gulani’ in question had authored some articles criticizing the state government and questioning the character of public figures. (NAN)
