It was part of NYCN’s activities to mark the 2018 International Youth Day (IYD).

Shagari said that the current leadership of the council had made it a matter of policy to cater for the basic needs of the IDPs.

He assured them that the council would synergise with philanthropies and charity organisations in bringing the desired succour to IDPs

The president said that even though the current leadership of the council was just about a month old, it was able to swing into action by tasking itself with the support of some partners to celebrate IYD with the IDPs.

“I call on the government to improve on its effort in catering for the IDPs   as their situation deserve urgent attention from the relevant authorities and the general public.

On his part, the Deputy President of NYCN, Innocent Nduanya, gave assurance that the council would reach out to all IDPs in Nigeria with a view to providing basic relief materials to them.

He appealed for the provision of an improved infrastructure at the camp to make it habitable for them.

Idris Halilu, Spokesman and Coordinator of the camp, thanked the leadership of NYCN for the visit and the relief items provided and prayed God to reward them for their humanitarian effort to the IDPs.
