Tarmuwa LG in Yobe Provides Relief Materials to Flood Victims
Tarmuwa Local Government Council in Yobe, has distributed relief materials to victims of flood in Babbangida town, headquarters of the council.
Alhaji Gidado Abubakar, chairman of the council, disclosed this on Friday in Babbangida in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
He said that the council provided 15 bags of millet, 40 bundles of male clothes, 40 bundles of female wrappers and 50 bundles of plastic mats for immediate needs of the victims.
“This is to provide immediate relief to the victims who lost their houses, food and clothes to the floods and now taking refuge in a primary school and with relations” Gidado said.
The chairman said officials from both the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) have visited the community.
“The two emergency agencies have taken details of the destruction with a view to providing the victims with assistance,” he said.
NAN reports that over 100 houses in Babbangida were destroyed by flood on Monday, July 16, following heavy rainfall.
No life was lost but, houses, farmlands, food items, clothes and other personal belongings were lost to the floods. (NAN
