Mr. Rabiu Halilu, the Coordinator of the organization, made this known on Thursday in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Katsina.

“Our organization got the support of the U.S. Embassy in Abuja to provide the training for the selected youths who have indicated interest in acquiring the modern agricultural techniques,’’ he said.

Halilu said that the 150 trainees were selected through an online process after they filled their application forms online, following an advertisement.

“We selected 50 youths, both male and female, from each of the three senatorial zones of Katsina State.

“We have so far trained 50 persons each in Daura and Funtua zones; we are about to complete the training of the Katsina zone participants.

“We are going to link them up with the financial institutions that will provide financial support for them to start their own businesses,” he said.

Besides, Halilu said that the participants had received training on how to write bankable business proposals, adding that this would enable them to obtain financial assistance from financial institutions.

He said that the trainees would also be introduced to organizations which would patronize their products so as to enable them to become self-reliant.

“We have trained the youths in modern vegetable farming, poultry and cattle fattening as well as goat rearing and goat milk production techniques.

“We have also educated them on modern fish farming, cucumber, carrot, lettuce, and cabbage farming,” he added. (NAN)
