(Abdullah Bego)  The Nigerian ambassador to Sudan, H.E Musa Mamman Saban has commended H.E Governor Ibrahim Gaidam for sponsoring hundreds of Yobe students to study medicine within Nigeria, Africa and the rest of the world.

“Your Excellency what you are doing with regard to medical sponsorships in Yobe is unprecedented. It’s true that we lack enough medical doctors, especially female doctors in Nigeria and especially in the North of the country.

“The support that you have provided for many Yobe students to study medicine and their placement on Salary GL 07 on a monthly basis has turned the tide in favour of progress. In the near and long term, this will have the significant positive impact on healthcare delivery in Yobe State”, the ambassador said

Mr. Saban spoke a short while ago during an interaction that Gov Gaidam, who is currently on a visit to Sudan, had with the President of Ahfad University, Prof Galal Badri.

Ahfad University had conferred a Ph.D. in Law honorary degree on H.E Governor Gaidam two days ago during the institution’s 48th graduation ceremony.

The honour was in recognition of the governor’s effort at transforming Yobe State and using “lean resources to make huge impact in the lives of the people” despite security and fiscal challenges.
