Sunshine Stars Football Club of Akure on Wednesday got the needed maximum three points in their Match Day 6 fixture of the 2017/2018 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

In the match played at the Ondo State Sports Complex in Akure, Sunshine Stars edged visiting El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri 1-0.

Sunshine Stars’ midfielder Kehinde Adedipe scored the match’s only goal in the 26th minute of the first half with a volleyed shot.

The visiting team however hit the woodwork in the 36th minute to scare the home team.

Speaking with newsmen in a post-match interview, Sunshine Stars’ skipper Abe Sunday said his team would continue to improve match after match.

Sunday said the team had only conceded a goal in the first six matches of the season, and it was a “good one”.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Sunshine Stars will now visit Plateau United in a Match Day 7 fixture of the league.

Sunshine Stars now have 11 points from six matches.(NAN)
