Lawmaker Empowers 400 Youths in Zamfara
A member of the National Assembly, Alhaji Abubakar Hussaini-Moriki, representing Zurmi/Shinkafi Federal Constituency in Zamfara, has begun the empowerment of 400 youths.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Gov. Abdul’aziz Yari, inaugurated the empowerment programme on Saturday in Zurmi town, Zurmi Local Government Area.
Yari, who lauded the lawmaker for the assistance given to his constituency, said it would improve their welfare and reduce poverty among them.
“This efforts made by the lawmaker is commendable, it is in line with the mission of the State Government and our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Yari, therefore, called on the beneficiaries to use the assistance for the purpose it was meant for.
Earlier, the lawmaker, Alhaji Husaini Moriki said the assistance was in the area of material empowerment, education and health for the people.
“Under the empowerment segment, two new Honda cars and 15 tricycles were given to the APC chairmen and executives of Zurmi and Shinkafi council areas.
“We provided 100 motorcycles, 105 sewing machines and 30 grinding machines for our youths and women, aimed at supporting them to be self reliant.
“We also have 100 wheel barrows to be given to people with disability among others,” he said.
The lawmaker said that under the education scheme, N 20 million was earmarked for scholarship to 1,920 students studying at various tertiary institutions in the country.
He said he had embarked on the construction of Anti-Natal Care and Maternity Ward at the Primary Health Care in Dauran, Zurmi Local Government Area.
In his remark, the state APC chairman, Alhaji Lawal Abubakar, lauded the lawmaker and urged other political office holders to emulate him. (NAN)
