The Katsina State Government says it has empowered 100,000 Small and Medium Scale Entrepreneurs (SME’s) with soft loans to boost economic activities in the state.

Mr Murtala Ibrahim, Senior Special Assistant to Gov. Aminu Masari on Radio Monitoring, made this known when he briefed journalists in Katsina on Thursday.

Ibrahim said that the beneficiaries included women, youths, operators of enterprises and physically challenged persons.

He said that the beneficiaries received between N10,000 and N1 million loan depending on the category of the business.

Ibrahim said that the empowerment was part of the administration’s effort to boost economic activities, reduce poverty and create jobs for the people.

He also said that the government constructed over 872 classrooms and renovated more than 1,000 others across the state since its inception.

Ibrahim added that 1,960 teachers were recruited for both primary and secondary schools in the state and provided instructional materials to enhance teaching and learning.

The governor’s aide also said that the state government renovated General Hospitals in Katsina, Funtua, Daura, Kankia and Musawa.

According to him, the government will award contract of other general hospitals in the state.

Ibrahim noted that the government also purchased hospital equipment to enhance healthcare delivery in the state.

He urged people of the state to continue to support the administration’s policies and programmes in its effort to improve the living condition of people and move the state forward. (NAN)
