Relationship Between NAF Leadership and All Ranks in Ser

NAF, Abuja: The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, on 4 January 2018, held a meeting with Air Warrant Officers (AWOs) and Regimental Sergeant Majors (RSMs), who are the links between the Commissioned and Non-Commissioned Officers of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF).

The meeting, which held immediately after the conclusion of a recent workshop for NAF Field Commanders, was aimed at further consolidating on the existing smooth working relations between the NAF leadership and all ranks within the Service. Consequently, briefs were entertained from AWOs from HQ NAF, the 6 NAF Commands and tri-service institutions.

The briefs were mostly focused on areas of concern for airmen/airwomen and were targeted towards the improvement of the general welfare of personnel.

In his remarks at the meeting, the CAS reiterated the important role of AWOs and RSMs in all NAF units. He reminded them that, as the link between the Officers’ Cadre and the other ranks, it is expected that RSMs remain loyal and impartial in the discharge of their responsibilities.

He enjoined them to always give necessary feedbacks to their Commanders to enhance and contribute to the overall policy direction and advancement of the Service.

In addition, he said the AWOs and RSMs are expected to help the Service in limiting wastages in pipe-borne water and electricity consumption. Air Marshal Abubakar also laid emphasis on the expected role the AWOs and RSMs in promoting regimentation and discipline. He then urged them to continue to give their best to ensure that the NAF remains a pride to all Nigerians.

It would be recalled that in December 2017, the CAS held a similar conference with Branch Chiefs, Air Officers Commanding, Directors, Commanders and all Air Vice Marshals in Abuja.

The conferences were organized in line with the bottom-top approach to policy formulation in the NAF, as it provides a very effective feedback mechanism from the field, which has contributed immensely to the attainment of NAF objectives.
