Governor Al-Makura to Commission Special School Soon

Modalities for the official take Off Of the premier comprehensive special school are at the concluding stages says Nasarawa state Government.

Governor Umaru Tanko Almakura has stated his governments commitment toward the commencement of academic activities for the next session which would start January , 2018.

The Governor made this known during an inspection visit with principals of disabled schools, SUBEB officials and Officials of the Ministry for Special Education where they had a extensive inspection and followup meeting to brainstorm on the things needed to startup the school.

He said the inspection visit availed stakeholders opportunities to identify sections of the edifice that were suitable for occupation to each categories of students of the school.

Ta’al Circle report, the governor noted that consideration would be accorded the newly evolved curriculum on inclusive education policy and work assiduously towards its adoption so as to entrench full integration amongst students with varying needs.

Almakura also identified locations within the school that would be converted and equipped to function as resource rooms for classified tutelage after normal classes for each category of disability.

He noted further that 6 buses, fire extinguishers with a central fire alarm point as well as an ambulance for emergencies purposes and a fully equipped clinic that would cater to the medical needs of all the3 students and staff.

The school would take students from the age of 6 years, with all forms of disabilities and is currently receiving applications for the first session in January 2018.
