the federal executive council is to be expanded so as to inject fresh ideas in to the government for more efficiency and effectiveness in service delivery to Nigerians.president Muhammadu Buhari who announced this while addressing the national executive committee of the apc, maintains that members have every reason to rejoice over the accomplishments of the governing party in the last two years.

 

President Buhari Hosts Dinner For NASS Leadership

Senate president has reassured president Buhari that the National Assembly will continue to support and cooperate with the executive in implementing the change agenda for national development. This was at an interactive dinner between the leadership of the legislature and the executive at the presidential villa.

 

APDA NEC Commends FG for Ending Recession
Advanced Peoples Democratic Alliance(APDA) is commending the federal government for taking Nigeria out of recession. this was at the 3rd national executive committee meeting of the party held this Tuesday in Abuja.

 

Nigeria’s Ranking On Ease Of Doing Business

Nigeria has moved up 24 places to 145th in the world bank’s newly published ‘ease of doing business’ report and for the first time the country is recognized as one of the top 10 most improved economies in the world. The world bank doing business project provides objective measures of business regulations and their enforcement across 190 economies. The world bank highlighted five reforms making it easier to do business in Kano and Lagos, the two commercial cities covered by the report in Nigeria over the course of last year. they are starting a business, dealing with construction permits,  registering property, getting credit and paying taxes. in the area of company registration, the corporate affairs commission has moved to offer online registration and introduced new features such as electronic stamping of registration documents. Thus, entrepreneurs have been able to register their businesses much faster, within 24-48 hours, thereby saving cost and time.

 

 

Buhari Commends Nigeria’s Progress In World Bank’s Doing Business Ranking

President Muhammadu Buhari has welcomed the exceptional improvement of Nigeria on the world bank’s doing business latest rankings released Tuesday. in a statement signed by special adviser to the president media & publicity Femi Adesina, president Buhari congratulates all Nigerians on the very significant step forward which symbolizes the real success achieved by the presidential enabling business environment council, the national assembly and state governments in making it easy for people to register their businesses speedily, obtain licenses and approvals from government agencies without unnecessary bureaucratic bottlenecks. According to president Buhari, it also reflects this administration’s efforts to make it easy for foreign business visitors to obtain visa on arrival, pass through the  airports and do their businesses with ease and speed.  The president particularly commends PEBEC, chaired by vice president Vemi Osinbajo, for a job well done, stressing that he looks forward to even greater achievements for the Nation.

 

President Buhari Meets New SGF

The new secretary to the government of the federation Boss Gida Mustapha is reassuring Nigerians that the Buhari administration is irrevocably committed to fulfilling all pre-election promises of stamping out corruption, enhancing the economy and securing the country for prosperous future. Mr Mustapha stated this while briefing journalists after his first formal engagement with president Muhammadu Buhari since his appointment last monday. He expressed absolute confidence in the sincerity of purpose by the president to meet genuine aspirations of the people selflessly, decisively and in the best interest of all Nigerians.

 

Senate Re-Affirms Commitment In Fighting Corruption

The Senate president, Bukola Saraki has re-affirmed the commitment of the eight national assembly to work closely with the executive to tackle corruption in all forms, without fear or favor. National assembly correspondent Denis Adegunloye reports that this came during a point of order raised by the deputy leader, Bala Ibn Na’allah on president Muhammadu Buhari’s appointment of a new secretary to the government of the federation.

 

House On Destruction Of Illegal Refineries

The house of representatives has advised the security agencies operating in the Niger delta to always involve experts in the destruction of illegal refineries and boats laden with petroleum products to avoid environmental degradation. This followed a motion by representative Owoidighe Ekpoattai from Akwa Ibom state.

 

Senate & House C’ttees Inspect Abuja Airport

The new international terminal building of the Nnamdi Azikiwe international airport Abuja is to be handed over to the federal airport authority of Nigeria by the end of February next year.This came to the fore when a joint committee of the senate and house of assembly embarked on an inspection of facilities at the Abuja airport.

 

Inaugural Sultan Maccido Memorial Lecture

The need for Nigerians to continue to emulate the principles of the 19th sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Maccido for the benefit of mankind and in particular, Nigeria dominated discourse at an inaugural memorial lecture in his honor by the university of Abuja. Timothy Yusuf reports that the late sultan until his death in 2006 was the chancellor of the university.

 

Aisha Buhari Hails NDDC Act

Following the signing into law the north-east development commission bill, the wife of the president, Aisha Buhari has congratulated the government and the entire people of the north east on this major milestone Mrs. Buhari particularly commended the role played by the leadership of the national assembly and house committees on IDPs , refugees and north east initiatives under the chairmanship of Sani Zoro. she urged the appropriate authorities to ensure effective implementation of the act with optimism that it will bring the needed succor to the people of north east ravaged by insurgency. Mrs. Buhari has been a key player in the struggle for the establishment of the north east development commission. to back this up, she presented a position paper before the national assembly on the 9th of may, 2016.

 

NDLEA Arrest Suspects

Three persons in possession of one point six tons of substance suspected to be Indian hemp have been arrested by the Niger state command of national drug law enforcement agency. Dauda Mohammed reports that the suspects were arrested in Tegina, Rafi local government area of the state enroute funtua, Katsina state.

 

Minister Of State For Agriculture Inspects Poultry farms

The federal government has promised to resolve challenges of smuggling of poultry products and high cost of feeds to make poultry business attractive and profitable. minister of state for Agriculture, Heineken Lokpobiri said this while on inspection of poultry farms in Oyo state.

 

Rice Farmers Solicit Government Support.

It’s getting to that time of year when rice becomes almost an essential commodity, it’s the end of year celebrations of Christmas and the new year. we are aware of government’s efforts to boost rice production and other produce for that matter. however, rice farmers in Abia state are lamenting lack needed infrastructure and the menace of flooding as some of the factors militating against efficient productivity. According to NTA’s Denis Temple, if something is not done, rice farmers will continue to count their losses.

Federal High Court Orders DSS To Produce Dasuki

A federal high court sitting in Abuja has ordered the department of state services to produce Sambo Dasuki before it following a sub-peon order issued on the department. The presiding judge, justice Okon Abang gave the order for the subpoenaed witness who is in the custody of the DSS to appear before it Wednesday. Dele Atunbi reports that Dasuki’s appearance to witness is subject to the determination of the motion on notice pending before the court on stay off execution.

 

Vice President  Receives Queen Of Netherlands.

Since 2008, Nigeria as made progress growing from 23% to 48% of financial inclusion. Many Nigerians, however still have to do without basic financial services that are relied on daily. These are the very words of the queen maxima of Netherlands when she was received by vice president, Yemi Osinbajo who stressed the importance of financial inclusion to the Nigerian economy.

 

Senate On North East Development Commission

The senate has resolved to commend president Muhammadu Buhari for his assent to the north east development commission bill and commitment to the plight of the north east region. national assembly correspondent Denis Adgunloye reports that this followed a motion sponsored by senator representing Gombe central, Danjuma Goje. the senate leader, Ahmed Lawan led the extensive deliberations on the motion, in the absence of senate Goje who recently lost his wife. five bills also passed second reading including that to establish the federal polytechnic Silame, Sokoto state a bill for an act to amend the agricultural research council  Nigeria and that to establish the Nigerian tax academy.
