Flooding Effects In Awka

In the meantime, as the rains intensify, major parts of Awka the Capital of Anambra state have continued to experience heavy flooding with residents appealing for quick intervention from the state government. Ekene Ndulue visited some of the areas affected by the recent rains.

 

Total Commit Funds To Maternal Centres In North East

FRSC Respond To Presidential Directive On Jebba Mokwa Road

In compliance with the Presidential directive to ensure free flow of traffic on the Jebba-Mokwa road, the Federal Road Safety Corps has deployed more manpower and machines along the route.

The Corps Marshal Boboye Oyeyemi said this while briefing the Media in Abuja.

The Volume of Vehicles along the Abuja-Lokoja-Okene Highway has witnessed significant increase particularly the heavy duty vehicles.

Osinbajo In London To Meet President Buhari

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo left for London where he is meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari. In a tweet, the Senior Special Assistant to the Acting President, Laolu Akande, sys Professor Yemi Osinbajo will return to Abuja immediately after the meeting.

 

Nigeria’s Population Hit 192 Million

Nigeria’s population today as at 2017 stands at 192 million. This figure represents three point two percent of population growth per year.

This is declared by the National Population Commission Chairman during a visit to the Senate Committee on Population and Demographic issues

 

House Plenary on Niger State Flood

And from the House of Representatives a motion moved by Representative Lado Suleja on Niger state under matters of urgent public importance, called the attention of Legislators to the devastation arising from flooding in Suleja and other parts of the country.

The Senate has called for immediate assistances to victims recent flood in Niger and Lagos states. This followed a point of order raised by Senator David Umaru on the need for the release of funds to assist areas affected by devastation. Senator David Umaru also called on NEMA to as a matter of urgency provide Relief Materials to affected communities.

Information and Culture Minister, Lai Mohammed has expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the Maiden Creative Industry Roundtable held in Lagos. The Minister stated this at the end of the various submissions aimed at proffering solution to the Development and Growth of the Industry.

President Appoints New Judges

19 New Judges have been appointed by the President for the National Industrial Court of Nigeria. The appointment is part of efforts to strengthen the National Industrial court which is a major service point for justice dispensation in the labour and economy arm of the government. This appointment brings to 38 the number of Judges in the National Industrial Court. The Nineteen New Judges will be sworn-in on Friday by the Chief Justice of Nigeria.

 

NYSC DG Encourages Retirees About The Future

The Director General, National Youth Service Corps, NYSC Brigadier General Suleiman Zakari Kazaure has encouraged prospective retirees of the scheme to be optimistic about the future. He stated this in a message delivered at a two day pre retirement workshop organized for staff of the scheme in Keffi, Nasarawa state.
