In Yobe: Govt Commences Reconstruction of Structures Destroyed by Boko Haram

The Yobe government has commenced reconstruction of government offices and other buildings destroyed by Boko Haram insurgents.

The state Head of Service, Alhaji Sale Abubakar, made the statement on Thursday in Damaturu while inspecting construction work on some of the structures.

He said that government had awarded contract worth over N105 million for the first phase of the reconstruction.

“The government is reconstructing local government audit and pension office destroyed by the insurgents in 2014 at a cost of N39.750 million.

“Similarly, government is expending N32.252 million on rehabilitation of the Ministry of Commerce and N33.593 million on rehabilitation of the Ministry of Agriculture” he said.

He said that the two ministries had not been renovated since they were constructed in 1992.

He assured that the salaries, allowances and training of civil servants would be given priority by the government.

“The administration of Gov. Gaidam is committed to payment of salaries and allowances of civil servants.

“Government has been up to date in payment of salaries; the gesture should be reciprocated by all workers by being committed to service,” he said.

Saleh promised that the government provide conducive working environment for civil servants to boost productivity. (NAN)
