Kebbi Gov’t, Canada to Partner on Health, Education

Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu held fruitful meetings with the Canadian High Commissioner, Christopher Thorley at the Canadian residence in Abuja Nigeria

The meeting was to initiate dialogue on the country’s bilateral program and elevate growth levels across sectors such as education, power generation and health. possible partnerships with Kebbi State.
Governor Bagudu added that partnerships help to energise and elevate growth levels across sectors and Kebbi is looking at boosting investment, power generation, educational, vocational and socio-economic connections.

His Excellency was also in attendance Abuja this week as the Chairman Northern Governors forum Governor Shetima signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Northern Governor’s forum, The Kukah Foundation, Catholic Bishops Conference and the Profutura Foundation

The Memorandum which was signed at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel Abuja on Friday the 26th of May 2017 is for the provision of access to Education and ICT for the over 14 million Children in Northern Nigeria who are at the risk of exclusion to qualitative education on account of poverty, Insurgency and social imbalances.

The Profutura foundation is to be supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation, Dangote foundation, and the Barrack and Michelle Obama foundation. The Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria and the Kukah Foundation are the implementing partners and will work in Conjunction with the Commissioners of Education of the 19 Northern States to identifying the various schools and locations for the implementation of the project.
