Dr Zainab Shinkafi: Women Farmers in South Kebbi Empowered With Fertilizer

Historically, the women of Southern Kebbi / Zuru Emirates are known to be industrious farmers. Many crops such as wheat, rice, shea nuts, sesame seeds, boaboa are cultivated by the women. To encourage them, A team of the governor’s  wife, Dr Zainab Shinkafi distributed 600 bags to women across 4 LGAs namely Zuru, Fakai, Sakaba and Danko Wasagu. The exercise was carried out in Zuru.

The Governor’s Wife represented by the Sole Administrator of Danko Wasagu LGA Hajiya Tsahara Bawa said the measure was to further boost the efforts of the current administration in the Agricultural sector and consumption of Made in Nigeria products.

She called on them to form cooperative groups to enable them benefit from various women centred skills and entrepreneurial schemes of the state and federal government.

Dr Zainab Bagudu emphasised the need to use our locally sourced food to form balance diets that addresses the nutritional needs of children and nursing mothers so that we can check the prevalence of malnutrition in the state.

Highlight of the occasion was distribution of the fertilizer to women drawn from all the political wards in the Emirate.

In attendance were the Sole Administrators of Fakai, Zuru and Sakaba Local Government Areas as well as top party functionaries led by the Deputy State APC Chairman Alh Abubakar Kana. The Team A of Dr Zainab present include Halima Galadima Yauri, Murjanatu Bagudu, Fadima Bala, Maryam Kaoje, Hauwau Sai Mama and Kalala boys.
