Albino Foundation Commends FG for Support

The Federal Government has been commended for the re-instatement of free skin cancer treatment for persons living with albinism at the National Hospital, Abuja.

President of the Albino Foundation, Jake Epelle gave the commendation while briefing journalists on the activities marking the national albinism day celebration scheduled for the 5th of May.

 

Reps Call For Review Of Minimum Wage

The House of Representatives has called for the immediate review of the national minimum wage.

This is sequel to a motion under matter of urgent public importance moved by the Chairman House Committee on Labour Representative Onyewuchi Ezenwa.

 

Buhari on Assets Recovery Management

President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed serious concern that critical national assets recovered from those who abused trust by anti-graft agencies are yet to be fully mobilized and put to effective use for public good. This was when he granted audience to the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami to chart the best way forward.

FG Congratulates Anthony Joshua

The Federal Government has congratulated British professional boxer of Nigerian descent, Anthony Oluwafemi Joshua, who recently defeated Ukranian Wladimir Klitschko to become the unified World Heavyweight Champion.

FG Sets up Audit Panel on 12 New Universities

The Federal Government has set up a seven-member panel to assess the status of all projects executed with the take-off grants in the last set of twelve new federal universities.

Reports say that the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu who inaugurated the panel says the move is in line with Federal Government’s stance on transparency and accountability in public affairs.

 

IGP on US-Police Capacity Building

Nigeria Police says it is partnering with the United States Embassy to build more capacity to overcome security challenges, especially that of the north east of the country.

Inspector General of Police Ibrahim Idris stated this at the inauguration of u-s police advisor’s office located at the force headquarters.

Reports say that the US Ambassador to Nigeria Stuart Symington performed the ceremony.

Minister of State for Petroleum Resources Ibe Kachikwu has challenged oil and gas experts and investors and investors to take advantage of the over 50 billion U.S. dollar investment opportunities captured in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector roadmap to advance government’s four year economic recovery and growth plan.

Mrs Buhari Trains Women on Cosmetics in Kano 

The first batch of one thousand women have graduated from the various skills acquisition programme in Kano courtesy of the Future Assured Programme of the wife of the president Aisha Muhammadu Buhari.

The Minister, who announced the plan at the annual general meeting of the Nigerian Association of Tour Operators (NATOP) in Lagos, said that talks are at an advanced stage to forge a strong and effective partnership by using comparative advantage in film production, through Nollywood, to promote tourism in Nigeria.

 

Planning Minister Meets Stakeholders on ERGP

The Federal Government has commenced consensus building with experts and critical players in and outside the government to ensure the successful delivery and implementation of the economic recovery and growth plan roadmap.

Budget and National Planning Minister, Udoma Udo Udoma who said this at the opening of a stakeholders dialogue in Abuja says Nigeria’s debt service to revenue ratio will reduce as revenue improves.

The global economic recovery is gaining grounds with an improved world outlook for 2017 and beyond.

 

Senate on Mambila Power Project

The senate is to constitute an Ad Hoc Committee to pursue the realization of the Mambilla and Zungeru hydro-electric power projects.

Reports say that the senate decision followed a motion sponsored by Senator Yusuf Abubakar Yusuf from Taraba Central on the urgent need to speed up a construction of three thousand and 50 megawatts Mambilla and 700 megawatts Zungeru Projects.
