Yobe State: H.E Gov. Gaidam Opens Katarko Bridge to Motorists

H.E Gov. Ibrahim Gaidam has inspected ongoing road projects within Damaturu metropolis, started three months earlier as part of his administration’s urban renewal drive.

Some of the projects inspected by the governor included the Pilgrims Commission Roundabout to Damaturu Abattoir Highway, new Sabon Pegi road, Gwange junction to Emir’s Palace’s road, SSG Office road and the Damaturu Central Roundabout and overlay of 9.5 kilometres of road linking all four major roundabouts on Gashu’a road, Potiskum road, Gujba road and Maiduguri road.

The governor was told that work on all sections of the urban renewal projects is at between 65 and 75 percent complete.

Works Commissioner Lawan Shettima Ali, who conducted the governor on the projects tour, said Chinese Contractors and his ministry are working hard to meet datelines.

The governor also visited to inspect the ongoing 77-kilometer Damaturu-Buniyadi-Madgza road, which is now 50 percent complete, and the rebuilt Katarko Bridge, which was blown off by Boko Haram terrorists at the height of their senseless insurgency.

The governor expressed appreciation with the speed and quality of work he had seen on the road projects and declared the Katarko Bridge open for use by motorists.
