Senate Spokesman Reacts To Shut Down Of Government

Spokesman of the Senate, Senator Aliyu Sabi has described a mischievous, story circulating on a section of the media that the senate would shut down the Federal Government.

In a statement issued Thursday, Senator Asbi described the report in which he was said to have spoken on behalf of the Senate President Bukola Saraki and threatened that the senate would go to court and stop the entire government from working as outright false which should be disregarded.

The two disputing groups of Senator Ali Modu Sherrif and that of Senator Ahmed Makarfi of the Peoples Democratic Party have reached a truce for peace to reign in the party.

Senate Confirms Non-Career Ambassadors

The senate has confirmed forty-seven non-career ambassadorial nominees.  However, two were rejected; a nominee from Ondo due to DSS report while the other nominee from Imo  was considered too old.

The Senate President Bukola Saraki called on nominees to be exemplary in their behaviour. He reiterated the need for proper funding of Nigerian embassies.

 

Supreme Court Sets Date for PDP Appeal

The Supreme Court has fixed the 4th of May to hear arguments concerning the motion for the withdrawal of the appeal by the People’s Democratic Party after the judgment of the court of appeal in Port-Harcourt last month.

This is one of the surprising dimensions the PDP crisis case took at the Supreme Court today.
