Abuja Senate to Investigate Saraki

The senate committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions has been given four weeks to investigate allegations of irregularities against Senate President Bukola Saraki And Senator Dino Melaye.

This followed a point of order raised by former Senate Leader Mohammed Ali Ndume who cited publications by sections of the media accusing the Senate President of importing vehicles without customs duties and alleging that Sen.Dino Melaye’s first degree was fake.

Reacting to the allegation at a news briefing, Senator Dino Melaye said he has seven degrees and currently pursuing the eighth one. He pledged to submit himself to the senate committee for investigation.

 

ECOWAS Parliament Converge in Bamako

In a bid to address the issue of recurring cases of terrorism in West Africa which has brought untold hardship on the society, members of the Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS) parliament have converged in Bamako the capital of Mali to chat a new course for the organization.

 

Killing Of Two Police Officers

The Sokoto State police command has confirmed the killing of two mobile police officers by unknown gun men at the NNPC Mega Station, Sokoto.

The body of a beheaded old man was also found at a refuse bunker within the capital city.

 

Benue Governor Addresses Gunmen Attack in Zaki Biam 

Meanwhile seventeen persons have been confirmed dead and eleven injured in Zaki Biam, Ukum local government area when gunmen attacked the town on Monday this week.Confirming the incident the Commissioner of Police, Bashir Makama said it is the handiwork of a criminal gang some of whom have been arrested.

During a visit to the scene, Governor Samuel Ortom said all those involved will be hunted and apprehended as he cannot surrender the state to criminals.

He assured the wounded in the hospital of picking their medical bills as well as compensation to those that lost their property.

 

Daura Emirate Youths Rally for President Buhari

Daura Emirate Unity Forum in Katsina State has asked Nigerians to be patience with Buhari administration in its efforts to fix the country.

The forum made the plea at a solidarity rally organized in Daura to thank Nigerians for supporting President Buhari’s Administration.

President Muhammadu Buhari commiserates with the government and people of Benue State on the recent attack on a market in Zaki Biam by unknown gunmen which resulted in the loss of lives.

The president condemns the wicked attack and directs security agencies to begin immediate investigation with a view to bringing the perpetrators of the dastardly act to book.
Egypt, Gambia and Ghana Congratulate President Buhari

The President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has felicitated with President Muhammadu Buhari wishing him well as he pilots the affairs of Nigeria.

A statement from Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity says Egyptian Leader also congratulated the Nigeria President on the effort the country had made in the campaign against Boko Haram and other security challenges.

Recall that last week, President Adama Barrow of Gambia and his Ghanaian counterpart Nana Akuffo-Addo made separate calls to wish President Buhari good health and greater bilateral cooperation.

 

Federal Government Give Contractors Handling Niger Delta Development Commission Projects Ultimatum

The Federal Government has given all contractors including those handling Niger Delta Development Commission Projects in the region a 30-day ultimatum from today to return to site or face prosecution. The Federal Government directives are aimed at accelerating the implementation of the Buhari Administration’s new vision for the development of the Niger Delta.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, issued the directives at a recent meeting of the inter-ministerial working group following up on the renewed Niger Delta interactive engagements of the Buhari Administration.

The Ministry Of Petroleum Resources, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), the Ministries of Niger Delta Affairs; Environment; Power, Works and Housing  are also directed to proceed with the design and implementation of work plans in line with the administration’s new vision for the region.

 

 

Information Minister Visits Kaduna Airport

Information and Culture Minister Lai Mohammed has reaffirmed that there was no alternative to the shutdown of Abuja Airport for total reconstruction of the runway which was on the verge of total failure.

He stated this after monitoring activities at the Kaduna International Airport.

 

Ooni of Ife on Traditional Values

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, the second challenged Nigerians in the Diaspora to inculcate the African traditional values to their children.

He gave the charge at a conference on upholding African Culture in London.

 

Senator Donates Transformer to NTA Daura

The Nigerian Television Authority Daura Community Station has received a donation of 500kva transformer to improve power supply to the station.

The transformer was donated by Senator Mustapha Bukar representing Katsina North Senatorial District.
