Nigerian Elected Vice Chairperson of African Regional Labor Administration Center ARLAC

Nigerian has been elected as the vice chairperson of the African regional labor administration center (ARLAC) at the 43rd ARLAC governing council meeting in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.

Nigeria also has one of the three deputy directors of the interim management structure of the organization.

Minister of Labour and employment, Senator Chris Ngige led Nigeria’s delegation to the high level symposium and fundamental principles and rights at work.

He described the development as aloud tribute to the country’s unequalled contributions to the organization.

The minister called on the regional Labour center and the international Labour organization to intensify capacity building of Labour administrators in order to fast track development among member nations.

He informed the regional labour body of the commitment of the present administration to broaden the democratic framework governing government/labour relations.

The governing council of ARLAC is a meeting of ministers responsible for labour, employments and manpower issues in English speaking countries in Africa.

It was set up by the ILO a part of its institutional framework to build the capacity of labour administrators in the region.
