President Buhari Calls Emir Over Mother’s Death

President Muhammadu Buhari has telephoned from London the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumini Usman, over the death of the Emir’s mother on Saturday.

The Nigerian leader is having an extended vacation in London. He left Nigeria on 19 January and of recent has been making calls to aides in Nigeria. President Buhari condoled with the traditional ruler, urging him to take solace in the fact that Hajia Aminatu Mai Babban Daki lived a good life, devoted to serving Allah and humanity. “Please be comforted. May Allah accept her soul,” the President said. The deceased was survived by nine children, and has been buried according to Muslim rites.

The Katsina Emirate Council announced the death of Hajia Aminatu Mai Babban Daki earlier today.

Alhaji Bello Mamman, Secretary, Katsina Emirate Council, who announced her demise, said that Aminatu died on Saturday in Katsina, after a protracted illness.

President Buhari also used Saturday to call his Presidential Media Team.

Although Garba Shehu missed his one call from the President, he however stated on Facebook, “We are thankful to the President, Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR) for sparing the time to make calls to the Media team.”

“The Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed and the Special Adviser, Femi Adesina responded to the calls, exchanged greetings and thanked him for calling.

“I had an SMS from him thereafter because I missed my call! I humbly join them to say thank you, Baba Buhari”, Garba Shehu said.

“We are together with other Nigerians of all faiths, in praying for his safe return.”, Garba Shehu concluded in his post.
