#UNICEF: Delivering Maternal, Newborn & Child Health Interventions in Hard to Reach Settlements of Kebbi State

Since inception of the administration of His Excellency Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, policies and interventions have place priority in developing the Health sector in order to minimize the menace of preventable diseases affecting women and children. This focus now shifts to the 525 hard to reach communities in the state.

another milestone was established in Danko Wasagu as the wife of the governor Dr Zainab Atiku Bagudu flagged off the scheme with support from European Union and UNICEF. The “Hard to reach project” has a mandate to reach the underserved communities with basic Maternal Health Services.

Kebbi State UNICEF/EUMNCH Consultant in his address said Mobile health teams will be deployed across these difficult parts in the state. The teams consists of Health care personnel, equipment and drugs to deliver services such as Treatment of minor ailments, Immunisations, Iron and Vitamin A supplementation, Birth registration and Health promotion.
This Intervention is expected to strengthen community linkage and uptake of integrated PHC services through outreaches in 225 Health Facilities and 525 Hard to reach settlements of Kebbi state.
