Yobe State: Damaturu Urban Renewal Goes Farther Along

 

Work on the construction of roads and drainage lines within Damaturu Metropolis has continued to pick steam.

Some may recall that on 30th November, 2016, the state executive council approved N2.388 billion for the execution of various road projects within the state capital.

In a post on the same day, we noted under the title ‘Yobe Spends N2.388 billion on Damaturu Roads’, that:
“The Yobe State Executive Council has approved the sum of N2, 388, 036, 960.00 for the execution of various road projects within Damaturu metropolis, as the Gaidam administration works to improve public infrastructure in the State capital.
“In its scheduled meeting, today, the State Executive Council outlined the following areas for the projects:
“a. Overlay and reconstruction of 4-kilometer dual-carriage way from Stadium Roundabout to NNPC Mega Filling Station along Maiduguri road.
“b. Overlay and reconstruction of 4-kilometer dual-carriage way from Pilgrims Commission Roundabout to Abattoir Junction (after new 200-bed hospital) along Potiskum road.
“Both roads will be built complete with drainage system.
“c. Construction of 1.7 km road and 3.4k drainage line to link Sabon Pegi area off Kaloma Ali street with Pompomari area linking Ibrahim Gaidam Crescent.
“d. Dualization of 5 roundabouts and overlay of the 9.5-kilometre dual carriageway across the four main roads within Damaturu metropolis (i.e. from the Damaturu Central Roundabout to the roundabouts along Gujba road, Potiskum road, Gashu’a road and Maiduguri road)”.

On December 19th 2016, under the title, ‘Damaturu Urban Renewal Update’, we noted that work has began which will give the town a brand new look.
