House of Reps to Launch Research on Ailing Industries

(VON)  The House of Representatives is to launch a research work aimed at taking the Nigerian Moribund and ailing industries back to production.

This was part of the lawmakers’ contribution to the government’s efforts to revamp the nation’s economy, create job opportunities and diversify the revenue source for the country.

Speaking to Voice of Nigeria in Abuja, after a public hearing on amendments of three bills on SMEs, importation of used products as well as training, the Chairman House Committee on Industry, Abubakar Hussaini Moriki said the issue if not checked will retard the nation’s development.

He said factors militating against the development of industries in the country must be address for the economic revival, job creation and diversification.

“We must review our business policies as part of measures to revive the ailing and moribund industries in the country.” Moriki stressed.

The lawmaker expressed concern that thousands of jobs have been lost due to avoidable factors, part of which was a conducive atmosphere for the industries to thrive.
