NITDA To Promote ICT Public Private Partnership In Nigeria

NITDA is open to partnership that will foster the growth of ICT Innovation and Entrepreneurship, the Director General of National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami has said.

Pantami made this know while receiving the Managing Director of AKG global multi service limited (AKG Global), Mrs Kabir Gaya and her team to the Agency’s Corporate Headquarters in Abuja.

The team were in NITDA to identify areas of collaboration in promoting innovations, competitiveness, and entrepreneurship for the growth of the economy using ICT as a catalyst.

The DG stated that the drive to focus on capacity building, promote wealth creation , led NITDA to situate Digital Capacity Building Centres (DCBC), Digital Job Creation Centres (DJCC) across the country.

Mrs Gaya, speaking earlier, said AKG Global is a professional multi- service company that provides broad range of services and solutions in digital marketing, training and consultancy.

She solicited for the use of the DCBC, DJCC centres to train and empower youths, stating that, “Nigerian education curriculum does not proffer for innovation and Entrepreneurship”.

“ICT is an enabler for businesses, Nigeria is a country with over 97 Million Internet users, we envision creating a portal to serve as a directory where Small and Medium Scale Enterprise (SME) would register their businesses, we verify and market the businesses to the world” she added.

On his part, Dr Agu Collins Agu, Director, Information Technology Infrastructure Solutions (ITIS) at NITDA said the Agency is always in need of partners to help in dissemination of ICT knowledge and services across the country, NITDA is currently undergoing paradigm shift from situating projects to having programs, we want to adopt the Train the Trainers model.

Agu advice AKG Global to partner with Nigeria Internet Registration Association(NIRA) on the registration of the domain name for the SME directory.
